The Publicity Officer has to sell Mayfest and Augfest. Under the publicity comes the following: Mayfest Image, Public Websites along with net activities (like the forum boards), net advertising via sites like LARPWEB, trader's sites and other system sites, advertising where adverts are placed in magazines, local businesses, with role play groups (like at universities and colleges) and distributed at other events. Ensuring relevant mailshots are prepared and sent out. Ensuring there are positive writeups on events and looking out for negative aspects so that these can be dealt with.

All of these tasks involve a lot of liasing with the sub-committees and people with specific roles within them.

Since officially accepting this position I have been collecting ideas in all areas of Mayfest related Publicity. It is a large area, especially keeping the IT and internet side of things updated/working, and I fully expect to be delegating plenty of jobs.

I have enthusiasm for the job, lots of ideas, a good ear to listen to players thoughts and support from the Mayfest LARP committee (especially Dave). With all these tools and a little research into the best ways to market and "brand" Mayfest I believe we can encourage more players to the festival.
The need to balance the cost of Publicity against the monetary gains of said Publicity is probably one of the hardest aspects of this job. My goal is to help keep Mayfest fresh and exciting with the introduction of new players and new things like monster kit, and tents that stay in one place come rain or shine!
