Andi chairs this board and Louise and Sally
assist Andi and are members of this sub committee.
Here is what Andi says: About my job…. We decided that if it existed in the Mayfest world, it should be available for use online and so we ‘mapped’ the entire Lands. Louise unfortunately was unable to continue working with us for long but luckily Sally was available to take her place and between us we kept the boards running, gradually adding more and more construction as we went. This Mayfest saw the official election of a working committee and suggestions were made to streamline the boards; reshuffling much of the Out of Character sections and re-organising the layout wherever possible to get rid of as much accumulated clutter as we could. It also marked the return of Louise to the team. The suggestions made by the committee followed the direction we were hoping to take the boards in, so we have happily complied so far. Personally I think it is important to strike a balance between allowing the boards to become filled with un-necessary information (for example multiple threads all saying roughly the same thing) and to keep threads on topic as much as we can, without making players feel they have no right to begin threads on topics of their choice, or that at any point their posts are likely to be deleted or moved. I believe that the boards belong to the players and that each member should get back what they put in. If we police the boards too heavily we lose the creative input of the players, which as far as I am concerned is what Mayfest is all about. Having said that, if I am rung up and specifically asked to delete something I will as long as the member of staff explains why they wish it done so that I can pass the information on to players when they ask me. As the final decision is mine, I would appreciate it if anyone who is not happy with the any aspect of the way the boards are running come and discuss it with me, rather than ever having a moan at either Sally or Louise, both of whom do a wonderful job. |
